Thanks to anyone still paying attention to the podcast, no new episode in 2011?  Still doing the radio show every week so a new year and getting back into podcast world.  Episode from December 9th, 2011. Enjoy.  I will try and upload 1 episode per month on here. No separate intro, exactly what aired that night in December.

Holidays coming up and a brand new song for this time of year with 'Christmas by the Sea' by Stephanie Beaumont. Followed by Natalie McMaster who will be on the show next week. Some of the remastered 'Fogarty's Cove' album by Stan Rogers. End the show with Allison Crowe who is in the midst of some Christmas concerts."

After a long hiatus the return of the podcast.  Taken directly from the radio show as I interviewed David Myles and played his new CD 'Turn Time Off'.

Glad to see people still finding the podcast, only comments that had been sent the last few months were spam ones so I wasn't sure.  Some shows are in the hundreds of downloads. 5000 times in total the podcasts have been listened to.  Including one on an Apple TV.  After taking TV broadcasting years ago I made it on TV the long way around.

Enjoy this episode, I'll be back uploading new ones much sooner.

No posts for March?  Oops.  But the radio stuff and the blog took up a lot of time.  Got a few interviews to get too here on the podcast.  But I'll have to record some voiceover for those.

Here is the blog, in the meantime.

http://saltwatermusic.wordpress.com

Reason it had a lot of views, is a sad one.  That helicopter crash in Newfoundland.  I mentioned it and a song that was written about it by a friend of a victim.

So that drove a lot of traffic to the blog.  Lot of people were looking for that song.  Glad I was able to help people find it.

Called "Fall Into the Ocean" by Mark Frost.

I'll leave you with my Twitter page, joined last June.  If you want to keep track of the radio show, or what I'm doing.

Played Annabel Speaks to the Devil by Ian Foster to start the radio show and the podcast.

Then the interview with Sora aka Andrea Hunt.  These songs are played during the interview.

Eurydice, Children of Lir, Searching for Lambs, Heartwood, Drift, Hurricane, Winter and Madron Well.

After the interview I played Sora's EP Light.

The Juniper, Twilight, The Birch's Lament and Light.

Here are links to her MySpace, website and CD Baby pages.

These are the upcoming concerts she's doing out west.  When I know more details about the CD party in Toronto I'll pass it along.

Mar 7, 2009 7:00 PM - Elbow River Room, Riverbend Community Hall

Jul 11, 2009 08:00 PM - Pembina River Nights
Rangeton Park, Evansburg, Alberta

After the interview I play a couple of outtakes from the interview.

At the end of the podcast I talked about the ECMA's being back on television after last year's debacle.  Few minutes talking about that and how you can watch this year's award show.

You can catch it Sunday, March 1st live on that website at 8:30pm NT/8pm AT/7pm EST.  CBC Bold shows it live, if you have that channel.  If not CBC has it on a tape delay at 11:30pm in Newfoundland, or 11pm in all other time zones.

Might be closer to fixing the iTunes issue.  If not I might have to remove the podcast from iTunes then submit it again.  Yes, that's annoying.  But the emails from Apple haven't helped much.  Last one just tried sending me back to the Apple.com forums.  Hello iTunes, if I'm contacting you that means the boards didn't help. LOL.

On the radio show I'll be playing an interview with Sora this week.  And playing her music.  There will be a podcast of that.  Probably similar to the DawgFM show by airing what was on the radio, but I'll add some things to it.

Finished an interview with Fergus O'Byrne which will air on the radio at a later date then in podcast form.  And taping another interview Friday night with Ray Johnson of Buddy Wasisname and the Other Fellers.

Who says February is a slow month?

Got rid of the saltwatermusic.net address, since it was another expense I didn't need.  Just pointed to the Libsyn site anyway.

But iTunes looks like it's having a problem finding it right now.  Reported it but might be a few days till that's fixed.  No new episode planned till the middle of the month so it should be back to normal by then.

You can always download directly from here.

Edited the radio show down to a podcast this week, planned on doing an hour of all blues but went much longer.  So these are some highlights from the show on Friday.  No intro to Episode 15, goes straight into the show.

Blues Music from the East Coast with Garrett Mason, Terry Whalen Band, Hot Toddy and Matt Anderson.

Show was in support of DAWG FM in Ottawa.  A blues station trying to get off the ground, but dealing with some CRTC headaches.  I mentioned the problems in December, before I knew one of guys from DAWG FM is a listener of Salt Water Music.  So all the more reason to put the word out.

Clip of me talking about the Great Big Sea concert from November, then some parts of the radio show with Christmas music.  Clips include me talking about certain dates, commercial breaks and CFRC.  But I thought I'd leave all that in.

Music from Kenny Butler, GBS and Allison Crowe.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone.

Long story short was recording in November when a computer crash wiped out a few days of those files.  Recorded a day's worth then gave up on the November experiment.  Too busy.

I'll get an episode out sometime this week, might be short but at least something before 2008 ends.
Category:general -- posted at: 2:43 AM

Read about National Podcast Post Month or 'Napodpomo' which is an idea of having people podcast every day for the month of November.  So I'm doing something similar.  Recording every day, but not uploading.  Or else you might have a 2 minute podcast which seems a bit silly.  Instead a 43 minute podcast with some songs as well.

Beginning was recorded at the station and the rest at home. You can obviously hear the difference but a heads up.

First up I have 3 songs by Allison Crowe.  Her covers of Let it Be, Imagine and In My Life.

http://www.allisoncrowe.com/

Allison is playing a bunch of dates in November and December.  Closest to Kingston is Toronto on Friday, November 28th.  And an afternoon show in Ottawa on Sunday, November 30th.  Check the tour part of Allison's page for details.  She's also hitting Philadelphia, Massachusetts, New York City and 5 dates in British Columbia.

http://www.andreawittgens.com/

Also play some music from Andrea Wittgens.  She has a new CD coming out soon called "In The Skyline".  These three tracks are from her last album. Alibi was just an Afterthough, Did You Go Too Far and Aquarium.  Going to do an interview with Andrea soon, we're just waiting for the CD to be available for purchase online.  Good to get all the things in order so you can check out her music after I talk to her.

With grabbing a bunch of different audio files for this episode I'll cross my fingers there wasn't too many mistakes.  I even forgot a couple of things I talked about until I put it together.  So another episode or two this month, whenever I have enough for a good length.

Yes, the podcast is back after a little hiatus.  Working on 3 radio shows during the week and live football took up more time than I thought.

So in this episode the interview from this past summer with Ian Foster.  The full interview so you might hear a mistake or two that I edited out for the radio.  Why not show the interview process.

Here is the episode of the radio show with the edited interview edited and songs from Ian's CD.  I'd play them here but you know, different music rules for radio than podcasting.

http://www.archive.org/details/SaltWaterMusicJuly12IanFoster

It was before Ian's tour so the interview has some talk about the upcoming tour.  But it's best to leave all that in.  And here are links to Ian's website, MySpace and where to purchase his music.  You can also get the CD on iTunes.

Just a note for a reminder for the new date and time for the radio show, especially since if you listen to older podcast episodes I'm now saying the old timeslot.

Show is now on Fridays for 2 hours starting at 6pm EST.  7pm Atlantic and 7:30pm in Newfoundland.

And now an easier way to listen to the show.

http://www.archive.org/index.php

Search 'Salt Water Music' and you get the last 6 episodes of the radio show along with a couple of older shows.  This is for those who can't listen to the show on Fridays or prefer to listen to it at their own time.  You just hit play once you find an episode and that's it.  No downloading needed.

This episode the music of Allison Crowe for an episode that almost lasts an hour.  Found her first through publicbroadcasting.ca since she puts up podcast safe music.  So I grabbed the songs from that site.  She offers her songs for free on her website so you can listen to them there.  Of course she does have a spot to purchase her music.

On her website you can also watch videos of Allison, read the sheet music and lyrics too.  She's originally from Nanimo, B.C. but shares her time between B.C. and Corner Brook, Newfoundland.  So I'm sure she's an honorary Atlantic Canadian now.

Some upcoming concerts for Allison are NYC, Toronto and Newfoundland.

Saturday, July 19 at 8:00 p.m.
Laurie Beechman Theater, 407 W. 42nd Street
New York City, NY, USA

Saturday, July 26 at 8:00 p.m.
Heliconian Hall, 35 Hazelton Avenue
Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Friday, August 15 ~ 8:00 p.m.
Woody Point Heritage Theatre,
Grosse Morne National Park, Newfoundland, Canada
Fifth Annual Writers at Woody Point - hosted by Shelagh Rogers of Sounds Like Canada

Finally here are the names of the songs in the podcast.  There are 12 songs so they're a lot of them.  Skeletons & Spirits, Effortless, Imagine, Whether I'm Wrong, Montreal, Hallejuah, Me & Bobby McGee, Silence, I've Never Loved a Man the Way that I Love You, How Long, Joan of Arc ,Time After Time.

Krissy Holmes' episode is the most popular one by the way.  So a virtual medal should go to her.  Salt Water Music episode with no music is the most downloaded one?  Ironic.

Then onto seeing a car crash that afternoon in downtown Kingston as I left the conference.  An eventful day.

Finally a story about a caller who was trying to sell an item on a local TV show 'Buy, Sell and Trade'.  The item was not what she said it was when she phoned in.  I did graphics for that show and had to change it from FUTON to DOLPHIN.  What's a dolphin?  You'll have to listen.  It's a PG rated story.  [which is a hint]

Podcast is now on iTunes, seen 3 downloads already.  I tested it myself and it's working so if you use iTunes you can subscribe there to the podcast.

The new episode will air the Alex Foster [Your Favorite Enemies] interview I did last September.  We talked about hockey near the end.  Ironic since I'm a Boston fan and he's for Montreal.  And we get Bruins/Habs in the first round. :)

Should have a new episode in the next week or so.  Going to try and tape it on Tuesday if plans go right.  I'll play the interview with Krissy Holmes from 'Out of the Fog' I did recently.  Might even throw in a little bit I didn't air during the radio show.

As to how often it the podcast will be put up, at the least once a month but probably more like 2-3 a month.  Got the interviews I've done for the show that I can put on here for those who missed those since I've started.

Fair warning playing any music will be rare on the podcast.  I'd talk about the legal stuff I've read about it but it give me a headache.  But I'll see what I can do.  But I do have a song I can play for the intro/extro of the show.  Playing 'Troubadours' by Ian Foster so thanks to Ian for that.
